Basic Info
Name:Aurenca Mouly
Bio
Aurenca Mouly lives in Toulouse, where her father is a servant of Count Raimon. From time to time, she has the opportunity to observe the world of the nobles and see the performances of celebrated troubadours. She is curious about the teachings of the Cathars.

My real name is Nikki; I reside in Pittsburgh, and study nearly anything and everything about southern France, where my persona comes from. Research is my favorite thing ever. Lately I've been reading about the Albigensian Crusade, Elizabethan London, and the Tudor monarchs. I've developed a general interest in the Tudor era and 16th century France. Ditto the history of war and religion, because these things are, perhaps unfortunately, a major part of history.

I've found some examples of Latin recordings of what is probably my persona's surname (documented to 16th C in the registered spelling), and am thinking about changing it.

Other research projects include a study of Tudor armory, an overview of armorial style in many different time periods and cultures, and various name articles. Heraldry is my first SCAdian love. It didn't hurt that I've always been a language geek and had some knowledge of heraldry from, of all things, Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. :)

I also practice illumination. I enjoy creating works that look like legal documents rather than manuscripts - don't let anyone tell you these weren't beautiful. :) As an extention of this, I enjoy writing period scroll texts. For a list of past products, see here.
